WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Three projects in South Florida were awarded more than $16 million in funding in order to reduce train collisions and blocked crossings. The U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) gave the funding to the state of Florida in Railroad Crossing Elimination (RCE) Grant Program funding on Monday. Over 2,000 collisions occur every year at highway-rail grade crossings, according to the FRA.
